Athlete of the Month- December 2016

The CFPH Athlete of the Month for December 2016 is Rob Ramirez!
Rob Ramirez
We want to recognize Rob this month for the amazing progress he has made. Rob started CrossFit with us back in February this year and we are so impressed by how far he has come not only with his 40lbs weight loss, but in his performance as well. Rob comes in and really goes “all in” every class. You can usually find Rob at the 7pm class wearing his bright orange metcons! Nice job Rob! Here is more about Rob’s CrossFit journey:

1) When did you start CrossFitting and how did you get into it?

I started in February 2016. I was curious about CrossFit for a while and I always wanted to learn how to lift weights. I decided to give it a try at Potrero Hill and immediately got hooked. The staff is comical, helpful and always finds a way to challenge me. The workout groups are there to help each other without any egos. For me, the best part is the variety of the WODs. I love having a new challenge every time I step into the box.

2) What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?

When I’m not busting my butt in the box, I’m riding motorcycles, traveling around the world, going to baseball games, listening to live music and tasting wine/spirits.

3) How did CrossFit change your life?

Since joining CrossFit, I have dropped 40lbs and gained muscle definition in places I didn’t know I had muscles. My sleep quality and diet have greatly improved. I am running my fastest 5k races in years. The only annoying part is having to buy better fitting clothes.

4) What is your favorite benchmark WOD and why?

I’d pick Nancy, because overhead squats are badass.
