Presenting CFPH Athlete of the Month for January 2016: Pablo Bravo!

Pablo Bravo

Pablo has been with CFPH for 4+ years. At age 57, Pablo breaks through many misconceptions that CrossFit is not only for the 30 somethings and below. His progress over the years with us is outstanding, and he is still consistently WODing in the cold mornings, and staying injury free! We are proud to have Pablo a part of our community. Read about Pablo’s story below.

1) When did you start CrossFitting and what do you like about it? I joined about a year after the cage opened at World Gym, I say 2011. What I enjoy most about CrossFit are the workouts and the other athletes. I appreciate not having to pre-plan my workouts, but most of all I appreciate the encouragement I get from the coaches to keep going, and that keeps me coming back three times a week and sometimes four. 2015 has ended in a good note as I have kept myself injury-free and at 57 that is a very good thing. I was taught from the beginning that staying tight, focus on form, and mobility are the way to go, it just took me a little longer to finally get it that speed has to be secondary for me now.

2) What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?
Bike ride, ski, hike, read, spend time with family and friends

3) How did CrossFit change your life?
I went from 220lbs to 170lbs, from benchpress 65lbs to 170lbs, from bike riding one or two miles to 15 – 20 miles, from unhealthy eating and drinking to learning about eating right (Paleo)

4) Would you rather, do “Diane” Hungover or the “De Haro Hustle” wearing a resistance chute in 60 mph winds?
Diane.
