Haydee Campos

We all know that sticking with something new, throughout the year and holidays can be a challenge. But it is consistency and patience that really pays off when it comes to mastering the different movements we do in class. Haydee is one of those athletes. She has been diligently coming to class putting in hard work when she shows up since 2013. Haydee, your improving and your hard work has been noticed by coaches and other athletes! Congratulations!

1) When did you start CrossFitting and how did you get into it?

I started CrossFit about 2 years ago. I came back to work after a month off and found one of my co-workers looking really fit. She told me she had been going to CrossFit in the East Bay so I decided to try it out. It was so much fun. I like working with a coach in a small group setting and doing a different workout every day.

2) What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?

I love travel, reading and being outdoors. I like to hike and camp in the summer and ski in the winter. I have a 9 year old son who keeps me busy. I recently started taking piano lessons again after a decades-long break and am re-discovering how much I enjoy playing.

3) How did CrossFit change your life?

Before CrossFit, I was mostly into running and yoga. I had never done any lifting and it was/still is the most intimidating part for me. Though I’m still working on technique, I really appreciate how much upper body strength I’ve gained in the last couple years. I’m finally able to make it across the monkey bars again! Someday, I hope to do a pull-up!

4) Would you rather, do “Diane” Hungover or the “De Haro Hustle” wearing a resistance chute in 60 mph winds?

I choose the De Haro Hustle because I actually do like running(but not sprints). Plus, I am a total lightweight so getting a hangover would not be any fun.
