CFPH2_Mac

If you come to the 8 am class, you will have the pleasure of WODing with Mac. He’s the guy with the shiny head repping out 30 chest to bar pull-ups unbroken. Mac is the type of spirit we love to have in class, always with a smile, willing to lend a hand, and giving his all in the WOD. Mac has been a consistent member with us since we were in our old space and we appreciate his commitment to our community! Learn more about him from these questions below.

1) When did you start CrossFitting and how did you get into it?

I started CrossFit over three years ago. I remember one day while I was prancercizing on the treadmill at World’s Gym and looking over at the tiny cage tucked away in the far corner. There were a dozen people grunting and sweating to workout movements that were cool, yet freakish. A few months later, I decided to join the athletes at CFPH and history was made. Still here and queer!

2) What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?

I love my dogs. Anyone who knows me understands that they are my entire world and that Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are far from free with the countless pictures I post of them. It’s even more wonderful when I can be with them outdoors in the wild. Among other things I enjoy dancing (former hip-hop dancer), reading comic books, fine wine, noshing at new and scrumptious restaurants, and hanging with my family, friends, and my partner.

3) How did CrossFit change your life?

CrossFit is essential to making the beginning of my day successful and delicious. I deal with a significant amount of secondary mental and emotional stress as a psychotherapist. Therefore, CrossFit has proven to be great a stress reliever to my daily workday and life. I am much more calm and collected after a WOD, which has improved my attitude and mood. Also, it has built my confidence at the gym and I no longer stare at a barbell blankly for lengthy periods of time.

4) Would you rather, do “Diane” Hungover or the “De Haro Hustle” wearing a resistance chute in 60 mph winds?

Anyone who knows me understands that running is the bane of my existence. Give me Dirty Diane with a Bloody Mary and I’m “Ret 2 Go!”

Yay!
